ThanksGiving is a verb

Thanksgiving

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.

--Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

"Thanksgiving is, after all, a verb."

VIBING HIGHER THAN ILLNESS OR INJURY: NOW IS THE TIME FOR HERBS!!!

Yesterday, i sent out a SUNRIDER Missive for the Coach Ilg Downline. These Missives include important information about how to lose bodyfat, maintain cell purity, and offer inspiring reports from people all across the world that use SUNRIDER Herbs. Don't miss the VERY FIRST STEP of regenerative, whole-food Nutrition; join SUNRIDER today and receive my complimentary Guidance for budgeting and using your own cellular purity journey! Vibrate HIGH! Vibrate with the "Secret Herbs of WF since 1983"...superb holiday gift giving that puts money right back into your pocket while enhancing and empowering the health of those you love!

***

The snow is falling again upon the Sacred Peak outside my window, and my soul is soaring. To me, snow is purity and for my inner self, purity (or sauca in yoga) requires steadfast attention to our cells.

Like snowflakes, our purity and power are only as clean, clear, and vibrantly regenerative as our cells. That is why eating and using SUNRIDER products keeps me feeling (and living) so youthful...even with the pressures of new parenthood!

Enjoy the snow...and begin your own self-paced journey toward purity at your cell level; with SUNRIDER Herbs; the official regenerative nutritional path of Wholistic Fitness since 1893!

If you EVER have any questions regarding SUNRIDER or the MAP Amino Acids that are used in this proven Path of Transformation, you just let me know; that's why Great Spirit created coaches in the first place!

Congratulations to:
Scott Sorensen who joined the Coach Ilg SUNRIDER Downline yesterday!
buckle up Scott, and get ready to put the "soar" into Sorensen!
Scott is a long-time fan of WF and lives in Taylorsville, Utah

coming up soon in DL:

Spiritual Sauca...plus; an Embedded DL and iDL Special Offer!

Pain is
weakness leaving our bodies, sure.

Pain is
also intensity strengthening our weaknesses.

Pain is
karma spin balancing our granthis.

Seek pain for spiritual sauca, however,
do not Attach to it. the ignorant are
often more comfortable in conscious suffering
than in doing the work of spiritual evolution.

Remember continuously that our nature is fluid,
not solid.
We are more ether than matter.
Develop and use the Pranic locks so our Inner Being
can Dance in the Way of an Eagles flight...far above
the drama of the Outer World.

Steadfastly, oh Precious Warrior, devote thyself to difficulty
and only that way shall you be freed from it.

Oh, do you recall (or can you imagine) that excitement of being a new WF Online Student?

{Note; photo may be available only for DL Subscribers}

Dear Coach,

I am so glad to hear from you. I have been thinking and wondering this week; “Am I doing this right?” "I must not know some of the etiquette and requirements for this journey.”

And indeed, your note confirms that I am missing some things! Thank you!

I so want to do this well with my body, mind and spirit. I feel very lucky to have this privilege to work with you.

I am here and happy to be on the adventure and to comply with my coaches wishes. I intend to send you updates every Wednesday and Sunday. What else is expected of me and should I find this list in a place I have not yet sought it? (That is a HUGE question, isn’t it?!)

My Sauca has expanded this week to make space for my puja (had to move furniture). I have been reading DL, and exploring the WF Sangha Lounge. The use of my Sadhana Journal is becoming more full as I include feelings and mantra practices I do during my workouts. My SunRider Herb order arrived on Monday. I am on MAP Aminos and re-reading TBT.

I love your practices outlines in TBT (page 270) and have been doing the neti, yoga toes and tongue cleaner daily.

I also did some more reading, in Yoga Sutra II.40. to make sure I understand it – and this really hit me.
“When considering the cleanliness and purity of the body, it is always emphasized that the system of yoga views the body as a vehicle meant to nurture and aid the development of our spiritual beings. The body is affectionately maintained as the keeper of the spirit, a means to an end, but not an end itself.”

I needed to be reminded of the LOVE and appreciation, the affection for the body, for the rituals to cleanse the body because it is the keeper of the spirit. Thank you. Thank you. I am so grateful for all my body does each moment, every day, all my activities, holding my brain, giving me senses to be in the world and holding my spirit.

Purifying the mind is another intention of Sauca. I look forward to your guidance with this, Coach. I understand that cleansing the body and the mind relates to purity of spirit; peaceful, present, calm and sincere. I am enjoying this learning journey and eager to do more sauca in my life.

I have been having VERY colorful and detailed dreams. One important one, for our work together perhaps, came after I did a nighttime sitting focused on the Teacher/Student Prayer. I dreamt that you administered a bodywork session much like Thai massage – but especially focused on lateral flexion and extension. I have been thinking about this. Perhaps my movement is too linear. Perhaps I am not flexible enough in my mind and thinking. Hmmmm. I am open to guidance.

I’m off to the Sangha Lounge for Puja set-up guidance.
Hey, I also have the WF Yoga Prop Workout DVD! So glad I found that.

My body already feels as if it is reconfiguring on a cellular level.

I feel stronger, and have dropped 3 pounds.

And I also have had times of fatigue – that feel connected to regeneration in a way I have not felt in a long time – a good, thorough tired!

I have a long list of intentions, that I will strive to put into the accomplished list for my Update on Sunday.

Now and through our work together, I am open – heart, head, body and spirit, to your guidance,

Namaste,

Elizabeth

Coach's note:
a "puja" is an altar/worship table used for formal meditation. all of my WF Online Students are expected to create such a Sacred Space.

Pay strict attention to how well New Student Elizabeth has followed through on the CELLULAR LEVEL of the WF Path; SUNRIDER Herbs, MAP Aminos, DL/WF SanghaLounge/TBT/Yoga Sutras as her Svadhyaya or "self study through Scripture".

Note that without lifting ONE BARBELL or doing ONE CARDIO workout, New Student Elizabeth has received the WF Transmission as demonstrated through her loss of Bodyfat (spiritual surrender to the Teacher), Dream visitation, and Mantra empowerment.

note also that we've begun our Work two-gether on the basis of Sauca...purity. this is Traditional Yoga as i outlined in TBT. without clearing and cleaning ones abode (home, occupation, mind, behaviors, and body) then, an aspirants entire Journey will be dirty and retarded.

do you have ANY idea of how FUN and HONORABLE it is to begin the formal WF Online Student Path with a Being as beautiful as Elizabeth?

well, i love to tell you,
however,
ALL my Online Students contain these same measures of spiritual radiance...so...have YOU filled out your Online Training Application yet? you can study for as short as 6 months, if you want. the point is,
there is NOTHING like being a WF Online Student on this Plane(t) and pretty much everybody that matters, knows it! so fill out a WF Online Training Application...i'm only going to be providing this intimate type of one-on-one, traditional yoga Transmission for another few years. and, there is a waiting list for Applicants. make sure you are in Line outside the Online Training Temple!

because:

"The Path works,
when YOU
work the Path!"

NORDIC REFLECTIONS within sky and sweat...

yesterday evening,
roller skiing beneath an alpenglow splashed across the
the Sacred Peak...
a sudden and timeless peace comes to my Soul when Oneness seems to mix sky with

is this sweat and sky inspired peacefulness...

WF History; bouldering

photo for DL Subscribers only...also shown in my book; THE WINTER ATHLETE

WF Chi Hit from the past...steve ilg on the never-repeated "Balloon Saloon Traverse,"
Pagosa Springs, Colorado. circa 1990. i called it the Balloon Saloon because the route was this excruciatingly long traverse along a historic wall of an old saloon in downtown Pagosa Springs, and you had to be as light as a balloon to make it. so much as breathe too heavily, and you'd be off. and i fell off this thing a hundred times or more over the course of an entire summer. i had to get my bodyfat to 2% before i was successful on this route and you can see how lean i was! it's always a matter of 'how bad do you want it?' photo by Jennifer Heightley.

Dear Coach Ilg,
With a month to go ..I am soon to complete a 200hr teacher training course here on long island..yesterday on your blog ...discussion on the 8 limbs of yoga helped me understand what I have been studying ..due to your knack for articulation..and today our teacher spoke of "dis ease"..having read your blog for the past year i was familiar of what the class was just discovering..my classmates are knowledge hungry yogis..who want to live & share yoga daily...

with your permission..I would like to introduce you and your "site" to my classmates.. I feel many of them would benefit from your passion & devotion to living your yoga and may be future students for you..

Namaste,
Cathy..

Steve:
I just ordered your TBT book for a lifelong friend of mine. He is a warrior spirit who like you has suffered a back injury that has forced him to stop running. He's now switched mostly to bicycling. Over the last year I have shared with him insights into WF. Most importantly he has watched my own transformation as I've re-energized/re-integrated the 5 disciplines of WF and 4 lifestyle principles internally and they have been equally reflected outward. He is one of our friends that has to this point leaned a little too much to a one-dimensional approach to his fitness/life.

He is looking for the best path to improve the quality of his life. And TBT, I know from my own experience is that path.

If its not too much to ask please send him your thoughts inside the cover of the book & again I humbly thank you for the quality/color/fullness that WF has brought to my life.

Pranayam First, then Meditation! Actual Training Q&A with a non-formal Student

"...yogis that skip daily Pranayam for the sake of "Meditation"
run a very dangerous and real risk of imbalanced Neural, Nadic, and possibly Kundalini Awakening and many other physical, mental, and energetic dis-eases." - coach ilg

photo: your humble coach as few of you have seen me, immediately in my post-pranayama meditation. photo; Temple Files

***

Non-Formal Student:
I'm not doing any specific pranayama practice. I know I should but that time had to be given over to meditation.

Coach:
Pranayam concentration comes before meditation.
Pranayam is training for meditation.
remember the order of Practice Priorites straight from the Enlightened Ones:
1st and 2nd: Yama and NiYama (these are allWays works in progress!)
3rd: Asana to strengthen the Nadic System and concentration skills and breath/pranic empowerment
4th: Pranayam to deepen the Nadic and concentration Fitness and stoke the Kundala
5th: Pratyahara to establish a relationship with Sushumna Awareness and Chidakasha
6th: Dharana: sustained concentration
7th: Dhyana: meditation occurs only as a Training Effect from #6
8: Samadhi: Training effect from mastery of all the above.

yogis that skip Pranayam for the sake of "Meditation"
run a very dangerous and real risk of imbalanced Neural, Nadic, and possibly Kundalini Awakening and many other physical, mental, and energetic dis-eases.

get my Early Morning Ritual (EMR) DVD
establish abhyasa (steadfast practice) in using it; EVERY MORNING!
after 3 months of EMR abhyasa, contact me.

Non-Formal Student:
Once a few of my classes end for the semester, I should have some more time to devote to that. I also have decided to take at least 6 months to a year off from teaching yoga once I move to SD. I want to spend that time just taking class and going more within.

Coach:
wise call.
however:
less classes,
more within

you have studied soooooooo much...
remember Jois's classic counsel:
1% Theory, 99% Practice.

your Nadic Fitness and Balance
and the Awakening of Sushumna
are NOT to be further delayed.
and they don't need 'classes' to be developed;
they require one thing:

Death By Pull Ups...or Death to Connective Tissue?

With latisimus dorsi tendons once capable of 62 consecutive Pull Ups, i now spend countless hours in yoga postures attempting to undue the imbalance created by my Pull Up-specific strength from the 1980's when i was a sponsored climber. Always remember, the pursuit of Wholeness is far, far more difficult to attain than sport- or discipline-specificity. photo from TOTAL BODY TRANSFORMATION

Steve,
i just tried this
"Death by Pull-Ups" workout i got from {a professional fitness training company - name withheld to protect their idiocy}: With a continuously running clock do one pull-up the first minute, two pull-ups the second minute, three pull-ups the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.

The record is 27 rounds.

I got completed 6 rounds and crapped out in the 7th.

love,
Student H

Coach Responds:

H!
Listen closely:
that "Death By Pull-Ups" Workout is a recipe for Death To Connective Tissue Health...especially if a wise and very capable Pull Up base has not been attained. the ligaments and tendons fastening the vulnerable joint articulation of the elbow are easily tweaked, strained, and sprained by jumping into a 'numbers-obsessed' workout choreography like that. worse, from an energetic perspective, is the 'gluing effect' upon the scapular mobility which locks up Anahata Chakral energies from following such 'routines.'

Mastery of elegant, powerful Pull Up FORM is far more important, safe, and wise than obsessing on numbers
(oh i know...i hear you chortle knowing my history with Pull Ups...however, i was a sponsored rock climber back then;
basically, i was professional Pull Upper! dat's different).

if you really need to set your goals on a great Pull Up workout, WF offers many more wise options. Here's one that you can try after you have the capacity to do 3 sets of 10 Pull Ups in elegant form:

Educate Me! - The Spiritual Side of HP PROP Workouts

it's go(o)d to rock our boat of belief structures...how else are they tested and strengthened? no matter what or who we 'believe in'...that belief structure is gonna get SMASHED to DIVINE SMITHEREENS anyway upon our Bardo Entry...so, why not continually test and develop our sense of Truth through confrontations, not avoidance?

Hi Coach!

My friend, D, is an extremely Evangelical Christian. I was just lying in bed and thinking of how much fun your HP YOGA PROP WORKOUT class will be tomorrow when I flashed on a time I inadvertently offended my also Evangelical niece by taking her to my Unitarian Universalist fellowship (definitely the opposite of Evangelicalism). My nature is to be very respectful (and in fact very curious) about other’s quest for Truth (as long as the rights of others to do the same are not infringed upon). I do not want to put her in an uncomfortable position so I started thinking of anything about your class that could cause unease for D.

So, that is the purpose of my email. Can you give me an idea of the spiritual side of your Prop class? Also, I guess I have never thought about the alter and know not of its purpose. Can you educate me?

What are your thoughts of the possibility of tomorrow’s class causing unease for a VERY Christian Christian? I think this is a weird question to ask but I am trying to be sensitive to this side of her. I am trying to imagine walking in shoes that I cannot possibly imagine wearing, if that makes sense.

Warmly,

K

Appendicular vs. merely Axial Fitness...NOVEMBER MEANS NORDIC!!!!

click pics to enlarge

awlright...
enough of the cute baby pictures...

November means only ONE thing to me: it's NORDIC SEASON and i've got a State Title to defend!!!

time to sharpen the biceps as well as the thighs...
it's time to make the appendicular musculoskeletal fitness as strong and enduring as the axial musculoskeletal fitness!

runners & cyclists are imbalanced; their lower body and axial fitness is all they got. trust me, when i train runners in my HP YOGA PROP WORKOUTS or in the IRON TEMPLE using WF Strength Training Techniques? uhhh, they may be fleet, but they ain't FIT!..least not in a WF World!

nordic ski racers combine the lower body and axial skeletal fitness WITH the upper body and appendicular skeletal fitness.

Nordic fitness = wholistic fitness.

running and cycling fitness = what i call; Insect Fitness...specialization is not athletic prowess from a WF perspective. and it sure ain't Warrior Fitness! it is merely specialization and specialization, as i put on WF t-shirts in the late seventies; is for insects, not true athletes!

this balance of Whole Body Endurance is what makes NORDIC SKI RACING the Most Noble Cardio Discipline and Sport in the world! this summer i used our precious jewel of a path, WF, to gain 4 AG Podiums and 3 Top Ten Overalls in trail running.

i'd trade 'em all in for ONE NORDIC PODIUM! cuz' running is kindy-garten compared to Nordic Ski Racing, baby!!!

so, now it's time to match my 'lower body endurance fitness' with something that i've worked so hard on my whole life; upper body endurance fitness!

this WHOLISTIC BALANCE between a lower body and an upper body endurance fitness is precisely what is soooo beautiful to me about Nordic Ski Racing...it REALLY demonstrates which endurance athlete is a more whole, balanced strength-endurance athlete.

my winter training and racing schedule is going to be subject of course, to Priority #1; being a Conscious New Daddy...however, my winter racing goals are ambitious and clear; get on the AG Podium and into the Top 20 at the Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon, defend my State Nordic Championship Title, regain my World Highest Nordic Ski Championship in Classic Division, and get a AG Podium at the grueling, Tour de Ski Ultra Nordic Marathon.

dat oughta keep me off the streets, as my dad would say.

and,
hopefully
keep YOU tuned in and inspired to keep CRANKIN' this winter!
i KNOW i'll need your support this winter...it's gonna be tough, tough, tough...

and,
as you'll see COMING UP next in DIRECT LINES,
my Kendrick Mountain Duathlon that i cranked off yesterday in 4.3 hours is a sincere gesture that New Daddy ilg ain't givin' up the fight for what turns on most: Winter Multi-sport Endurance Racing.

May your Workouts and WorkWithins be Blessed today...

in endless cold mountain sweat and freezing morning meditation,

always achievin' steven
