Humor and Spaciousness in Meditation

When you meditate, it is essential to create the right inner environment of the mind. All effort and struggle come from not being spacious, and so creating that right environment is vital for your meditation truly to happen.

When humor and spaciousness are present, meditation arises effortlessly.

THANK YOU; the MAP Contest

ilg sports the Durango Sombrero yesterday after a 60k, 3,7000' of climbing road bike ride and needed to cool off in the Sacred Animas before laying down the Dharmic Sweat at HP PROP. photo by Ananda.

***

Most Precious and Noble WF Sangha,

thank you to all of you who took the effort to answer my Temple Gong and clicked on our MAP video for the contest. mathematically, it looks like we lost by a few dozen views.

the "Military Video" was the exclusive video being shown on the MAP site for weeks and had
336 hits...we went from zero to 298 in a few days.

we may have lost the MAP Contest, however, we - as always - won the Wholistic BattleDance.

as one WF Devotee wrote about the Contest;

***
Noble Coach,

I'm not sure exactly how "a group of Soldiers and Leaders" is "a customer" per se, but whatever ...

"Dr. Minkoff is anticipating a great response to the contest. He says, 'We get a lot of written testimonials about MAP, so we thought it would be fun to encourage our customers to make short video testimonials about their experience of taking the product. I am really looking forward to viewing the entries.'"

They didn't even speak on their video!

Anyway, I TAF your family-oriented video is brilliant (and adorable). If nothing else, maybe some people will see it on the BodyHealth site and check out WF as a result.
- M

***

dat's right, baby!

hey, the most important thing is to inspire those interested in deepening their cellular health and performance to get on MAP.

if you are not already on MAP, use the ILG MAP LINK to order and re-order and i'll be your MAP Sherpa, 24/7 for an amazing nutritional journey for you and your family. BodyHealth is a small company, and MAP is a very expensive product to manufacture at it's level of purity and formulation, so i don't know how long they will be around; so take advantage NOW!

i'll catch up with the continuation of my COMPRESSION MAN Product Review next on iDL...

again, thank you for answering the Temple Gong...love all the Facebook input!

head bowed from beside the Sacred Animas,

ilg

ps; i am seeking permission to get our "Adorable" MAP video on my Bodyhealth site.

• Compression forearm sleeves? OH HELL YEAH!!! these things are not only great for reducing and almost eliminating the quixotic biceptual soreness that arrives after hard core snowshoe and high peak races, but is FANTASTIC for wearing while at the computer! the compression sleeves slay any and all Carpal Tunnel Syndrome feelings...

why is ilg so utterly gone Valley on this compression stuff?

well, that's coming up next on iDL...

Ground Of The Ordinary Mind...

I designed the WF Techniques and Teachings to infiltrate our everyday actions like sunlight entering water; everywhere we go throughout the day becomes an opportunity to workout...errr, work within, more like it. The wisdom of the WF Personal Training System deepens far beyond our Noble 5 Fitness Disciplines (Strength, Cardio, Yoga, Meditation, and Nutrition) what the grounded nature of our 4 Lifestyle Principles (Breath and Posture, Mindfulness, Appropriate Action, and Practice) which invites the trickle down effect of our more specific Awareness Exercises such as Non-Dominant Hand Awareness, Eating Elegantly Assignment, Smile Often Guru, and dozens of others. Far beyond our World Class physicality, the WF Yogi comes face to face with what Rinpoche calls our 'fundamental basis' of mind; the real workout lies within when you live a WF Life! Each day shines with spiritual aplomb, each conversation offers another chance at Rising Higher, inDeed; each thought another Higher Consciousness workout. There is nothing like WF on this plane(t)...and there sure ain't nothing like a WF Yogi, like you! Isn't it time you signed up for a 6-month course in WF Online Training?

"The masters tell us that there is an aspect of our minds that is its fundamental basis, a state called “the ground of the ordinary mind.” It functions like a storehouse, in which the imprints of past actions caused by our negative emotions are all stored like seeds. When the right conditions arise, they germinate and manifest as circumstances and situations in our lives.

If we have a habit of thinking in a particular pattern, positive or negative, then these tendencies will be triggered and provoked very easily, and recur and go on recurring. With constant repetition our inclinations and habits become steadily more entrenched, and continue increasing and gathering power, even when we sleep. This is how they come to determine our life, our death, and our rebirth."

Namaste Cherished Coach,

Yesterday i discovered FOR REAL the power of the
"Ilg Supremes" - after 1 Supreme+ 2 ESE i did the best recording session ever! i've never played so well in my life! this is BIG this humble yogi sincerely appreciates your patience and finds our consultations extremely inspiring
Om,

student ic

***

Like a Wolf's howl slicing through a blistering cold, clear night in the back country, the conventionally-trained fitness warrior has little idea of what whole-food, regenerative nutrition feels like until they, like Student IC above, feel the chi undulate their cells.

in all honesty, if you are tracking wholeness like myself through personal fitness,
attention to our 'cell fitness' is Step Number One.

if you, like me, wish to engage in the widest variety of focused fun and appropriately paced spiritual progress during our short lifetime,
then certain leaps of Faith are required.
That is why we must Trust in our accepted Teachers.

to shift our bodies from reliance upon the muscle-and-oxygen system
to the far superior and scintillating awesome 'Pranic' or 'Chi' system,
then we must develop that ether-based system of energetics
instead of feeding our addiction to the air-based combustion system of
relying on carbohdyrates, protein, and fats to fuel our body/mind/spirit
paradigm.

in short,
we must reduce our faith in physical foods and
start bridging the gap to pranic nutrition.

in the WF Tradition, of course, this means making the Leap of Faith
into 2 vital Practices;
1) commitment to the SUNRIDER Herbs
which includes my "3-Phase Approach"
and
2) establishment of what the ancient yogic masters termed,
'shatkarma' or personal cleansing rituals.
in WF, i have developed an exceedingly simple, powerful
beginning teaching of Shatkarma through my
Early Morning Ritual.

so, if things like my Race/Bio Page turn you on
and
if you REALLY want to be able to dance and play

with the discipline-specific athletes in dozens of challenging,
brutally fun endurance, power, and skill sports as your
spiritual practice?

then, begin with the 2 Initial Steps outlined above...getting on the SUNRIDER Herbs using my 3-Phase Approach and launching onto the Early Morning Ritual.

This allows your body to begin the Shift from the muscle-and-oxygen system
and onto the Pranic Development system...and soon, you too,
will be able to crank off America's most challenging pilgrimages of Sacred Sweat on less than half the training volume of the conventionally trained without all the sport-specific injuries and horrid postures and inability to recover without soreness which plague those muscle-and-oxygen addicts.

Refusing To Be Anything But What It Is...poetry by Bantu

Monsoons rise here each afternoon

totally unlike great blue thoughts.
The red penstemon in the aspen
is not like some singular lightning strike.
The river in flood is not your life in turmoil.

And in the fir and spruce
a bear wanders through
bracken and duff, snuffling up
a mushroom and refuses
to be anything but what it is.

Sacred Race Sweat from 13,066' straight to you! Kendall Mountain Race Report begins this week!

"He who limps
is still walking."
- Nietzsche

"He who limps from weekend warriorism,
must still must crank HP Yoga on Monday!"
- Ilg

your feeble teacher above
still walking (errr...limping) his talk in Silverton, Colorado
after Saturday's Kendall Mountain Half Marathon.

The 13,066' Kendall altar of Sacred Sweat is seen in background.
The race climbs 3,748' in six miles, including a class 3 hardrock scramble the
final 250' to tag the summit.

i managed a 27th OA and 6th in my AG with a
time of 2:37:44.

i lost 3 places and about 10 minutes on the descent,
normally a stronger assest...my still crashed out right hip, however,
did pretty dang well overall and i am tremendously pleased
with being to compete in this event, an event which i had not
had the honor to sweat in for 20 years.

This race has been rated as "One of America's toughest half-marathons," by Trail Runner. Melissa, above in the black racing suit, agreed. A top AG trail runner from Los Angeles, Melissa said that this race, "...makes Mt. Baldy* look like a molehill." Gauging from the collapsed postures all around Melissa above, her words appeared accurate. Personally? I've rarely felt more recovered so quickly after such an intense, bone-jarring event. The WF weaponry which i used in this event will be profiled all this week in iDL...so listen closely; secrets upcoming! Not only do i feel fine to teach HP Yoga® this evening in the Cave Of Champions, yesterday morning i was even able to hang with Dewa in the morning, which is really something valuable!

How about next July, you getting out to this birthplace of Wholistic Fitness® and toeing the Start Line with me? If it is a mountain yogi pilgrimage thou seeks? This event is for you!

Or, why wait? Come on out for your WF Intensive in the Mecca of Muscle-Powered Pranic Adventures! i'll be happy to custom-fit an unforgettable WF experience for you. If not now, when?

ilg trusts your own weekend was deeply rewarding and congratulations to all those Durangatang's covering the MTB National podiums!!!

Race Report: Pagosa Mountain Duathlon

"Nursing my 4th career high-impact injury on my right hip sustained in a road race in New Mexico several weeks earlier, I had no expectations to defend my title from last year, yet having Andrew, who is one of my High Performance Yoga® students, inherit the title was just as rewarding for me than winning it myself."
-steve ilg

It was a coach's honor to hand over my title of last weekend's Pagosa Mountain Duathlon to Andrew Ferguson of Durango. Andrew is a HP Yoga student and fan of WF. photo by ilg

Love trail running among beautiful scenery? How 'about racing your mountain bike among wildflower carpets of sequestered beauty? If you answered yes to either, double your pleasure next July 9th at the Pagosa Mountain Duathlon! photo courtesy Carmen Hubbs.

As expected, this year's 4th Annual Pagosa Mountain Duathlon on July 11th, came down to another heavenly, sacred sweat. Over the ponderosa and gambel oaks, a stunningly warm, blue sky blanketed the racers, their families, and friends.

What was not expected was the jump in athlete quality which accounted for a new Course Record (1:31:01) in the Men's Division and several sprint finishes as tired racers sprung new wings once the Finish Line was spotted. Race Director Carmen Hubbs reported a strong if not stronger turnout compared to last year. Drier conditions made for a significantly faster course than last year and the times proved it. My own time was 3 minutes faster than my winning time last year, yet that faster time was only good enough for 7th place, this year. More, higher quality athletes are discovering this great race among the towering pines of Pagosa!

First time entrant, Andrew Ferguson - who races for Directory Plus in Durango - took home the Champions medal, finishing 14 seconds over Eric Walecki. Ferguson (or "Ferggie" as he is known in Durango peletons) is one of several athletes in Durango that I've been encouraging to get this event on their race schedule. He did, and together we arrived at the Start Line with mere minutes before the ever tan and sweetly smiling Hubbs, the lifeblood of this race, started us. An hour and half of princely pain later, Andrew stood atop the podium, smiling ear-to-ear with his 1st place in the Full Duathlon division. 17 year-young Katarina Medici cranked to the top of the Women's Full Course with a time of 1:57:47, nearly 5 minutes over Sarah Blackwell, twice her age.

It's not that often that this race comes down to a sprint finish, yet, that is how it came down for me and nearly how Ferggie finally overcame his 4-minute deficit entering the Bike Transition. Both Walecki and another talented runner, JD Kurz, are younger and faster runners than Ferggie. And, runners do have an advantage on this course. The 10k run section is fast and the fleet can sizzle the run course building a cushion of time entering the relatively short (20k) mountain bike section. Aside from the dreaded "big rock gully" at kilometer 5 of the mountain bike course, the bike course is not technical and is big chainring friendly. This very fact helps powerful cyclists like Ferggie to absolutely hammer along the serpentine singletrack and gravel roads like a rabid wolverine in a drought year. Still, it took until the final half kilometer for the new champion to chow down Walecki and Kurz, proving he was in fine form for contesting the mountain bike NORBA Nationals the following weekend.

This race, with proceeds going to support the Archuleta Country Victim Assistance Fund is truly one of the premier mountain duathlons in the awe generating beauty of American southwest. Even as I ran out of real estate in my own finishing sprint to lose to Durango brother Doug Boykin by a mere 2 seconds, I came across the Finish Line realizing just how Blessed we are to sweat among these magnificent peaks and all the wilderness over which they so elegantly gaze.

I truly hope to see you and your family on the Start Line next July 9, 2011.

Answer To Yesterday's WF Test Challenge...winner goes to...

Answer is: American Black Bear. With over 16 Black Bear sightings in my neighborhood this summer and a very tempting Black Walnut Tree blooming outside our bedroom window, each evening invites the sounds of bear mixed with running river. Kinda reminds me of my summers spent living in the old "Camp 4" (Climbers Camp) in Yosemite Valley where the Bears were nothing more than overgrown raccoons...

Local Durangatang Outdoor Athlete Warrioress Julie Lennon Feilen nailed my Poop Question within minutes of my publishing it and thus has earned a $10 WF Pro Shop Gift Certificate for her fecal knowledge! Only in WF does it pay to pay attention to POOP!

Congratulations to Julie and thanks to ALL of you who played!

WF Test Challenge; POOP! $10 Gift Cert to whoever wins!

Any "ilg" devotee will surely known my infatuation with poop. When it comes to fecal matter? It matters A LOT as an expression of personal fitness. Hec, ilg can tell more about a new student from a few questions regarding their poop than any current medical questionnaire!

Be the first Warrior (all true Warriors are natural scatologists...gotta be!) to identify the Being that produced this poop and you get a $10 Gift Certificate in the WF Pro Shop! which, unlike other Personal Training Paths...actually buys you multiple Teachings from me!

Here are some Hints since most of you all have been pretty much striking out on my Test Challenges ;-)

• = the Poop measures 9" long by 7" wide and is about 1.5" thick
• = the Poop is situated in my backyard; Durango, CO...elevation 6,512'...riparian environment (we live not 50 meters away from Animas River)
• = the Poop was found this morning at about 10 am; it was fresh and had berry seeds in it.

good luck!
i'm waiting...

Such is the benefit, the beauty of being born into a Warrior Caste...
study the Scriptures of the Ancient Enlightened Ones...
you'll quickly find Realization that
loving the sweat,
cherishing the stillness,
skillfully befriending breath and mindwaves
during sport,
during practice
has elevated us Warriors closer toward Awakening
then the common man
- rooted in lethargy, addicted to sense pleasures, slovenly grasping for
convenience over nobility.

How Blessed are We
to know the necessity of lifestyle fitness?
Of sweating each day to rinse clear the Clouded Mind and Eye and Heart?

Even if we remain scared of meditating,
too frightened to close the chambers of input
and sit still?

It's okay,
for at least you are unplugged from the iPod as you sweat
and
that alone,
might just be enough fodder for Awakening Higher
in the next life.

Is that not the very nature of your Sweat?
Tell feeble ilg if it is not.

Is not everything that is your Weakness
also your Gateway Higher?

Is not the muscle that is tight and restricted
also the the same springboard to Sacred Joy
as you soften it
and grow

Hello Coach,

Hope all is well with you and your family. i know you are very busy but i value your opinion towards health and fitness related issues. i am supposed to get a crown on my tooth that contains metal. If it were you, would you get it??? any TAF about this would be greatly appreciated.

i have done some reading about this topic and the crown is made and supposed to be put on my tooth tomorrow. i don't like the idea of metal toxins in my mouth. WHAT DO I DO??

Anyway, sorry if this is a weird question for you and i will not keep you anymore

Thanks
