Ilg’s September Elegy; Thank you September, for thy Grace….

all photos and text by steve ilg...please do not republish without asking, thank you! above;
aspens shimmer before a Missionary Ridge drainage.

What makes the bliss of a Durango September so potent is the fact that you’re standing right in the middle of a gold mine; the aspens turning, the amber rays of fleeting afternoons while ripping some shale singletrack along Raider Ridge…slow pedaling home while marveling at the geese skulling a twilight sky over the Ganges of the San Juans.

The gold mine will soon be covered, equally skillfully and equally beautifully, by a pandemonium of snow. That same snow will inevitably cover my autumn sentiments softly, like a barefoot hobo walking the tracks. My heart swells while I feel my love for autumn in the breeze yet I know that same breeze will soon freeze as it floats away into winter’s cold embrace...

Perceptions...vs. M(om)ents....

"Perceptions create our problems,
m(om)ents themselves never do."

- Coach Steve Ilg

photo by Ananda of Dewachen yesterday up in the High Country. My 3 year-old Rinpoche is teaching me my highest yoga of my life...each day and in everyWay. click to enlarge Her Transmission into your Practice today!

the quote arrived to me yesterday as i rode up to Andrews Lake (10,748') to meet my girls, culminating 3 days on the bike totaling 9 hours and over 11,000' of climbing. i hadn't been on a bike, hec, i hadn't done any cardio really besides cardio commuting since before my Imogene Pass Run! Amazing, from the intense 3-day cardio immersion, i feel great.

That's the type of yogic wholeness that WF imparts...may all be so Blessed to find this Precious Path.

Dharma Blessings upon your Practice today,

The Imogene '10 Chronicles, Part One: ilg cranks toward a top 15 AG!

note: this is first in a series of chi hits centering upon my performance at the grand-daddy of North American Mountain Running Races and one of WF's Most Sacred Pilgrimages: the Imogene Pass Run where ilg was once a top-20 Overall finisher who now just tries to summit near the same time that i once did the whole race in!

click photos to enlarge your aspiration chi hit!

in one of those stunning synchronicities of life, my daughter's birthday falls on the same date as perhaps my most Sacred of all Southwest Sport Pilgrimages; the Imogene Pass Run. here we are, Dewachen and i on Race Day Morning at the fantastic Hot Springs Inn in Ouray, Colorado mOMents before the Start Gun (and yes, here in the wild west it IS a real gun!). what would ensue? 17 of the Highest Miles of a Sacred Worship any Human Being could ever Pray to have...

most of all however, HAPPY CONTINUATION to my Dewachen who turned 3 on 9/11/10...and THANK YOU to all of your worldwide wishes for Dewa's Birthday and my i-forget-how-many-Imogenes-i've-done well wishes! Thanks to ALL of you for your Mantra sends, and your Devotion toward Wholistic Fitness®...ilg and my students pretty much kicked ass across the board...just wait till you hear what i've got to report but DON'T WAIT to sign up and check this amazing WF Pilgrimage off your Life List! (Registration opens on June 1st and pretty much sells out their 1,500 spots within 24 hours.)

Most of all, however, ilg just wants to put out to the UniVerse (OnePoem) how absolutely HONORED both Ananda and feeble ilg are to be given the Gift of an Incarnation to be the Parents of our now 3 year-old Rinpoche, Dewachen.

To Dewa;
Sweetheart, my Precious Absolute of It All...to Be with you these past 3 years (really, four counting your still-in-your-Amma's-tummy time) has been not only the steeeeeeeepest,
most exhauuuuuusting,
and
most EXHIILAAAAAAARATING
time of my life,
it's also
been the
most
Forceful (Hatha)
Union (Yoga)
of
my
Blessed,
yet
Difficult
incarnation.

so,
thank you...my Kamalikka (Little Lotus),
for you
are making
ilg - the founder of Wholistic Fitness -
far more Whole
than ilg could ever
have imagined
without thee.

and to your astonishingly Conscious M(om)?

all feeble ilg can do is
bow
as low
and as deep
as my post-Imogene Pass Run hips
can allow.

and THAT,
my Friends Along The Path
is what
it's all about...

my Race Report with Special Endorsements coming up soon...

hang tough,
breathe soft..

OFF TO IMOGENE!!!

OFF TO IMOGENE!!!

WHAT A BLESSING TO STILL BE RACING THIS INCREDIBLE SOUTHWEST MOUNTAIN SPIRITUAL PILGRIMAGE!

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR WELL WISHES...

Note to: WF Online Students;
i'll be updating your programs/facilitations on Monday!

Saying 'bye bye' to any recent gains in opening my hips, cuz tomorrow at this time?
after hammering the 17 stratospherically high altitude miles of IMOGENE PASS RUN ??

well, ask any IPR vet; the body takes a pounding...

yet, that's what being a mountain yogi is all about: fitness across the physiologic spectrum!

KEEP THE MANTRA CLOSE TOMORROW from 7:30 am to 11:00 am MST!

my personal goal is to flood the race course with 10,000 MANTRA's!!!

Neighborism...my vote for a retro-religion!

"...And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us...

...And lead us not into Attachment,
but deliver us from laziness...
Om-en."

- Yogi Jesus Christ
translation by ilg

Personally, ilg TAF's that most religions have morphed too much into specificity...kinda like sports. Therefore, feeble ilg suggests a retro-religion, one which all the Enlightened Masters spoke highly of in their philosophy; how about a religion called, "Neighborism."?

May your Practice speak to you today in Divine Whispers...
and,
May You Listen...

love and light,
sweat and stillness,

rev. ilg

photo; while cycling home this morning from errands, i was taken by this view of the Animas River Valley and the cloud-hidden Missionary Ridge (photo right) and Animas City Mountain (photo left). so, i quickly grabbed my camera and darted back across the street from my house to nab this shot for you. though winter is a preferred season of mine, it's tempting to be attached to such fertile, sexy days of a summer ending. click to enlarge...might be yet another Screensaver for you courtesy of WF.

Listening To September

us Wholistic Fitness® yogis are easy to spot in September; we can't resist crankin' a Crane Posture on a sun-baked rock while out running...photo of ilg by Ananda during yesterday's Wholistic Strollercise® with my girls.

It’s early September...a blissful 30 day crush of utter perfection
when the sattvic wave of summer begins to shrivel like forlorn leather. Leaves turn. Bow hunters creep the high country. Seasonal urgency begins to express itself in myriad and ever changing ways; arm warmers on the Club Rides, night lights on the commuter bicycles, and the gentle shock of wet coldness as i trod barefoot through the grass, fetching the morning newspaper. Calli Tea feels really, really appropriate now.

I know its early September when Grandfather Sun makes His grand entrance over Missionary instead of Raider Ridge as He begins His glorious arc. The Native yogis of our land - Turtle Island - lived by solar and lunar expression. It's what Hatha Yoga means: Ha = Sun, Tha - Moon, Yoga = Union. A human life is orchestrated by the Dance of Sun and Moon. At least we used to. We should now. That is Yoga. Go backpacking for several days during September; you'll understand more about Hatha Yoga than any Nag Champa incensed studio or hot yoga teacher could ever pray to impart.

Dewachen in traditional yogi garb (butt ass naked) checks out a Smooth Green Snake (Opheodrys vernalis) yesterday on the banks of the Sacred Animas beside the WF Temple H(om)e. photo by ilg...click to enlarge.

In September
the Sacred Animas floats a sexy mist above her dwindling volume. The mist - anciently born - dances before my riparian home like bardo smoke sucking the Ancient Ones from etheral slumber. Indeed, these morning mists and the humidity they deliver are a sanctified Blessing apart from the Sage which perfumes these rocky heights.

In September,
i find myself restraining a deeply rooted nostalgia for each Kale pulled, every Tomato plucked. Such backyard harvest need not a bar code to determine its due date but telegraph their maturity by a sheer and natural appearance to those Who Listen. In each garden lies a zendo waiting for the temple gong of nurturing.

September is
the precious month where every sentient being grows in some unsullied way.
Seedy plants and bundled up morning cold
snaps all of us up here from summer's sweet stickiness.
Time to get the wood for winter.
Get the fenders on the commuter bikes.
Place the ski wax orders, now.

After thirty-eight summers at 6,512' or more above sea-level, let feeble ilg tell you, when September arrives; you listen.

You listen
to the ultra sweet sounds of morning as you pour the locally made "Southwest Blend" into the bird feeders. Within moments Grosbeaks, Kinglets, Phoebes, and Finches dance their privately known hierarchy among the Siberian Elm branches. And what a dance is it is! Durango sees 310 wild birds as seasonal or yearly residents. The entire state of Minnesota only fetches 312 by comparison. Careful, though, on the birdseed, i reMind myself each treasured morning...birdseed attracts Bears which have found my yard to be a Preferred Pooping Place. Might be the Black Walnut tree. Regardless, too much birdseed and the Bears will raid like Norwegians the feeders, then the trash, and then - like the woman up the valley - your very own kitchen.

What else does ilg listen to during these jeweled days of September?

ilg listens
to the soundless sound of a Smooth Green Snake slivering her slow way from the 40-degree night into the wall of early morning light along the banks of the Mother Animas.

ilg listens to every morsel of sunshine bouncing off the Gamble Oak and Juniper and even the Driftwood, floating....floating. i centered my entire Shavasana meditation tonight to my yoga students based upon Driftwood floating upon the Mother Animas.

By sheer Listening?

Listening, my friend along the Path, turns to love unadulterated by societal convention.

Listening transforms.
Listening invites Insight.
Insight welcomes Empowerment.
Empowerment = Enlightenment.
so,
as the only two words to the Wholistic Fitness® bible states:
"Just Listen."

And especially; coach ilg wants thee to listen to September as humble gardens everywhere spew out incomprehensible amounts of food that Yogi Jesus would applaud. IT'S A MIRACLE!

To eat local in the ilg h(om)e?

Step outside and just say, "Please, Garden."

We've got seven weeks until the first hard freeze.

Maybe six.

Those of you that have been following ilg's tracks all these decades know that Autumn tis my most powerful time of year; tis the season of Imogene Pass Race (coming up in 3 days, 20 hours!!!), of roller skiing, and my love affair with falling leaves upon frozen singletrack way up high.

In this elegy
for another awesome summer,
ilg bows to you.
and to Yours.
Endlessly i bow along this head-shaking miracle of existence upon this absolutely implausible plane(t).

that is all.

go out and breathe
September pran.

How Blessed Can 24 Hours Be? Another Go(o)d Intoxicated Ilg Sings Out...

Grandmother, last night, rising over the Animas River...

Each day arising seems to me to be an utter, unspeakable act of miraculous awe...i'm not implying 'easy'...i'm just saying; Awe... At It All. i mean, now that i am a New Daddy, i read the newspaper (only after Meditation, of course, and never on my WF Media Fast days). i see what's going on in the Outer World (or at least what gets filtered through to me). i read what my FaceBook friends write about...yet, here, in our little Wholistic Fitness® Sangha, our small yet fierce Tribe of Ancient Warriors devoted toward Wholeness...and i, their feeble Leader, tucked away in this astonishing hamlet of Divine natural beauty...

ilg just has got to ask, How Blessed Can 24 Hours Be?

yesterday morning
after my Early Morning Ritual...i get this in my Inbox:

"Oh Steve,
I do miss your yoga classes and inspiration here in LA more now than ever! If more people were as enlightened as you, The World would be such a calm and serene enjoyable existence. Do you still tour ,writing books, run marathons, cross train mountain bike, or and teach the very best Yoga class ever? You truly are a fascinating man Steve. Much respect .
Namaste,
Pamela
Los Angeles"

okay, so then, like THAT's not enough to keep a perma-smile on feeble ilg? i walk into our living and see my naked, yet apron-garbed Rinpoche immersed in Zen Arts & Crafts...

later, after laying down
a Dharmic-and-sweat drenched HP Yoga® 'Strong Flow' class with my Durango Sangha in the Cave of Champions...i pedalled hOMe beside the Sacred Animas with my 'boss' of the yoga studio, a National Road Racing Champion whose non-judgmental kindness and natural yogic presence mires me in rumination of who he Really Is.

pedaling hOMe...easy on Ma Earth...my heart filled with love and openness from all the forearm balances and inversions that i taught over the past hour and a half...yoga ignites soul force.

Then, In A Night
governed by a Grandma in Her full expression (see my opening photo)...the everyday exhaustion and exhilaration cOMmon to conscious parents catches up with me...i answer far too few emails and retire to the gurgling sounds of the fluid Mother Animas beneath a very sexy Grandmother Moon.

This Morning...

this morning...okay, let me see if i can even recall my Wholy Grail In The Shale of some of Durango's sweetest 'in town' singletrack...just outside my door: uh...Telegraph to Sidewinder to Crites to Anasazi Descent (OOOPH! a black diamond descent!..i fell twice like the MTB dork that i am!) to counter-clockwise Mikes Loop (OOOPH!) to Chicolla to Meadows and back hOMe along the River Path...

dat's what ilg is talking about, baby!!?!?!

Shiva Shamkara Shivaya Hari Om Namah Shivaya!!!!

OH HAIL TO THE MAHADEVA's (GREAT MOTHER TEACHERS): MOTHER NATURE DANCING WITH CONSCIOUS HUMAN SWEAT!

2 hours; 20 miles; 2,800' of singletrack climbing...the morning after a HP Yoga® Strong Flow...you kidding me?!??!! C'mon; why fumble about seeking Go(o)d in pews and regurgitated prayers when all you gotta do is...The Wholistic Practice!!!!! There is no Go(o)d higher than singletrack after yoga and meditation!

then it was time to shower, ride my commuter bike to meet Dewa and Ananda at pre-school pick up...playing with the schoolkids...riding hOMe...still haven't eaten anything beyond a half of a PowerBar and it is 1 pm in the afternoon...personally? ilg feels quite satiated!

This Evening:
as if punctuating the past 24 hours...Vishnu delivered a double rainbow over the Animas and Raider Ridge with a heaven of a chaturanga into this:

Dewachen, the name of our almost 3-year old, refers to a heavenly realm of Amitabha Buddha; the spiritual lineage head of WF. Dewachen means, "PureLand of Golden Bliss." Auspiciously golden and beautiful sunsets have followed us around since Dewa's birth...the first one flooding Flagstaff, Arizona where she was born on the very evening after her birth (see DL Archives; circa 9/11/07).

May All Beings Find Happiness and the Causes of Happiness...

Bet You've Never Seen THIS In Your Front Yard...

The nation's only remaining wood-burning engine that is still operational. please; click to appreciate...you can see the stack of wood behind the Engineer!

Yup, Durango's RAILROAD DAYS are here! i was totally jonesing to get a shot of this most precious antique for y'all. This morning i was alerted to this guy chugging up the tracks for a secret test run before this weekend's big tah-doo... and thanks to Vishnu, i heard the unique wood-powered, "TooT TooT!" in the afternoon as he huffed and puffed his way back to the Durango Depot...i sprinted out of the office, nearly naked, across the street and barely managed this shaky shot! please do not republish without asking, thank you...enjoy this bit of Americana preserved...may all of our training persevere as long and as handsomely as this "Little Engine Who Still Can".

Training Profile: Goulding Trail - So Steep Even The Deer Slip

Namaste Noble Warriors of Wholeness!
yesterday i took a jog up the Goulding Trail...locally it's infamous for it's super steep gradient with over 22 switchbacks in the first mile. personally, i lost count after the first six.

starting elevation: 7,900'

finish elevation: 10,000'

length: 2.7 miles through spirit-rousing pine and aspen forests beneath the enormous Hermosa Cliff faces...

access: trailhead is about 14 minutes by car from my front door in Durango.

wanna come along?

thought so...that's why i took my camera; just for Thee!
click pics to enlarge the Chi Hit

for this mountain run, i used what i call my "Mod-a-ssins" a pun for "Modern Moccasins";
these are the Saucony Kinvara
- 7.7 ounces and
pretty much zero support.
those of you that have been traveling with me all these decades, know that i was among the first to forward barefoot and then, later, promoted the Vibram Five-Fingers®. the Kinvara is absolutely a beautiful hybrid between a traditional trail runner and the Five-Fingers. least for me. i love these fleet, foot 'socks' so much, i am even considering racing Imogene Pass in them this September! 'considering' being the operative word. just the thought of racing Imogene in 'moccasins' turns me on.

start of the trailhead. the route takes demanding switchbacks right beneath this 600' face before skirting it on photo left...

...within 5 minutes of huffing and puffing, you get a sense of what's in store for you;
an absolutely stunning altar of pine and aspen forest where a bear or deer could be eating Service Berries and watching you from 10 feet away without you knowing it...

Golden Chanterelle grace a decomposing Spruce..

a half-mile into the ascent and the East Needles begin winking at your Noble Effort...

...turn the next switchback at you see the resort of Tammaron (it's called something else now) at below you and Missionary Ridge in the background..

...must be "Wing Night" in the high country...i've never seen this before; an entire Hawk wing lying beside the trail. now THAT must have been a helluva airborne fight! Om Mani Padme Hung...

...my beloved Aspen Beings; standing the same way i like to run: half naked!

...besides the dizzying effect of climbing so fast up so many switchbacks,
you also run the risk of becoming deeply and divinely intoxicated by the perfume of Mother Earth, expressed through a zillion wildflowers along the way. yes, the trail is hidden in this shot!

My turn-around today...why? see those thunderheads rolling across Father Sky? i hit the rip-cord at this point (45 minutes into the run) and scooting back down the trail in 20 minutes before Our Father opened His arms...

God Bless All who must do their Warrior Effort on "Hillclimb Mode" on Treadmills today; May this iDL entry seep into their cells and be Transported...
to
Here
Now.

May Thy Sweat Be Sacred this weekend...i might just try to knock out Handies Peak
this weekend with some HP Mountain Yogis...
then again,
that will be yet another Psalm in the ilg book of Prayers..

head bowed,

Yogi Squat Of The Week, plus; Just Another Durango Vibe...

do your Chi a favor; click on each to enlarge...

Yogi Squat of the Week goes to...Dewachen Ilg, who turns 3 this September 11th.

oh, like you're even gonna TRY to throw down a Yogi Squat comp with Dewa?

i think not...your patella's would just shoot straight out through your skin if you tried sinking into this one, i know mine would...yes, Dewa does eat directly from our backyard garden, and yes, those are two Dora The Explorer 'bandies' on my daughter's tummy...but keep reading for a far more impressive 'bandie' shot...

actual shot from one of my training rides on Red Mountain Pass...
and you wonder why i teach FOCUS so much?!?
it's about a 800+ drop...

Dewa takes a break from a yoga practice with her m(om) to display in not so humble demeanor her new PR in 'applied bandies'; 20! a whole box!
Recently reincarnated Warriors always have a peculiar attraction toward bandages...

Taken just hours ago at Haviland Lake, about 15 minutes by car and precisely 43 minutes away by road bike (trust me). many of us domestic gardeners could try for years to sculpt a 'Whiskey Barrel" planter like this natural one on the shores of Haviland, one of my chi-ldhood vortices.

Ananda's production last week from our backyard garden; Summer Squash soup and Kale supplemented by some tofu and rice...YUM!
give it up:
ilg is doing pretty dang go(o)d transforming
our Hollywood Movie Star into a Mountain Momma, eh?

My version of Day Care;
A Haviland rivulet makes for an awesome 40 minutes that seems like 10,

exploration for Dewa and Amma and Abba. Dewa sets the Agenda; we just listen and attempt to learn...

Kale "Chips" from our backyard garden; Dewa LOVES these!
Hey, we ALL love these!

Ananda Ammaji and Dewachen at Haviland Lake just hours ago...Engineer Peak is the high peak in the distant center...

The WF Temple H(om)e Garden...note the Finches pestering the Chard Flowerettes...

Dewa and Austin tour my childhood friend Christina's 'Earthship' she is building in the foothills west of Durango...Austin is Christina's son...
when the Outer World finally discovers the pricelessness of Wholistic Fitness® and i become a millionaire, i'm building our Tribe a Wholistic Fitness Institute from Earthship philosophies and techniques. should we start a donation drive, or what?!

i could not resist the majestic chi of this impeccable Horse Being as we drove down from Haviland...i trust you can't either...wow...ilg can only bow to the Miracle of It All...

Dewa and tall, swooshy grass in a high country marsh skirting Haviland Lake...

i was quixotically touched by this juxtaposition of an anthill and the resplendent Hermosa Cliffs...

THANK YOU; the MAP Contest

ilg sports the Durango Sombrero yesterday after a 60k, 3,7000' of climbing road bike ride and needed to cool off in the Sacred Animas before laying down the Dharmic Sweat at HP PROP. photo by Ananda.

***

Most Precious and Noble WF Sangha,

thank you to all of you who took the effort to answer my Temple Gong and clicked on our MAP video for the contest. mathematically, it looks like we lost by a few dozen views.

the "Military Video" was the exclusive video being shown on the MAP site for weeks and had
336 hits...we went from zero to 298 in a few days.

we may have lost the MAP Contest, however, we - as always - won the Wholistic BattleDance.

as one WF Devotee wrote about the Contest;

***
Noble Coach,

I'm not sure exactly how "a group of Soldiers and Leaders" is "a customer" per se, but whatever ...

"Dr. Minkoff is anticipating a great response to the contest. He says, 'We get a lot of written testimonials about MAP, so we thought it would be fun to encourage our customers to make short video testimonials about their experience of taking the product. I am really looking forward to viewing the entries.'"

They didn't even speak on their video!

Anyway, I TAF your family-oriented video is brilliant (and adorable). If nothing else, maybe some people will see it on the BodyHealth site and check out WF as a result.
- M

***

dat's right, baby!

hey, the most important thing is to inspire those interested in deepening their cellular health and performance to get on MAP.

if you are not already on MAP, use the ILG MAP LINK to order and re-order and i'll be your MAP Sherpa, 24/7 for an amazing nutritional journey for you and your family. BodyHealth is a small company, and MAP is a very expensive product to manufacture at it's level of purity and formulation, so i don't know how long they will be around; so take advantage NOW!

i'll catch up with the continuation of my COMPRESSION MAN Product Review next on iDL...

again, thank you for answering the Temple Gong...love all the Facebook input!

head bowed from beside the Sacred Animas,

ilg

ps; i am seeking permission to get our "Adorable" MAP video on my Bodyhealth site.

riding to "Switzerland"...

this is Ouray, Colorado (aka; the Start Line for Imogene Pass Run). click to enlarge. This "Switzerland of America" is 75 miles, 3 mountain passes over 11,000' away. i'm riding there this morning and taking Joy, Dewa, and Joy's dad; Jerry, camping here for 2 nights. i reckon i'll be feeling the GNARLY FUN HP PROP Workout that was cranked out last night in the Cave of Champions as i pedal over the passes...yet, that is what WF is all about: Intelligent, Yet Crazy Wisdom Workouts That Fuel Wholenesss.

So, enjoy the Archives and the SanghaLounge,

Stress Reduction: A Training Effect from WF

"Wholistic Fitness® reduces stress in our life

HP Yogini Melissa Van Sant, owner of Rose Pedals in Durango, crankin' toward the summit of Jones Creek singletrack this morning; 2,375' in 4.8 miles of drop-dead beautiful singletrack to 9,580'. click to enlarge...the 'impressionist' quality of this pic is not via any PhotoShop antics; it's from my own sweat on my cell phone camera!

Melissa's daughter, Jennifer, an HP Yogini too, also cranked this run...6 months after giving birth! Jennifer knows how to suffer. She ran cross country under one of our nation's best cross-country coaches; Ron Keller of Durango.

Melissa's warrior husband, John? Yup, John's allegiance to HP Yoga is reversing all sorts of chronic pains from construction working...he cranked the "Hum SAH" HP CHI big time with us!

14 bikes to one car...YEAH BABY! Also; ilg faces the FaceBook Wizard Question

click pic and see extensive footnotes for killer details...

what's "on my mind*"?
asks the FaceBook Wizard each time ilg logs on.

ain't it obvious for ALL of us?
layers and layers of avidya...

if my Mind was Clear/Enlightened,

NOTHING would be "on it"!

oh, and is it just feeble ilg or aren't the most 'basic' yoga postures
extremely challenging after each hard mountain run or
strength training workout in the Iron Temple?

i mean,
do Studio Yogis ever regularly do any other fitness discipline that is contractive, for Buddha's sake?

or...does doing intense, regular, contractive work somehow threaten their Attachment to 'deep and impressively fluid' yoga postures?
does not high intensity endurance work meet their notion of 'yoga'?
hmmmmm....
is starting to sound a lot more like
Ommmmm
to
ilg!

photo: that's Durangatang Nick Gould, fellow staff teacher at the Cave of Champions here in Durango...just one of several National Class cyclists and professional fitness trainers that have already found a deep friend within the chi of HP Yoga®and WF. Nick - a celebrated Expert/Pro Mountain Biker, who is a personal trainer turned onto HP Yoga and also a great DJ, is set to win the Durango Tri at DMR. the bikes in front of Yogi NG is Durango's first Bicycle Parking Lot in front of Carvers Bakery (...one of the founders of Carver's is Karen Carver, a WF Student from long ago; see WF Mealtime Cookbook). Kudos to Carvers Restaurant and the City of Durango who recently collaborated to replace one downtown parking spot with a bike rack that holds 14 bikes. Seeing as the City of Durango is funded primarily by revenue from sales tax, this will allow more tax-paying customers to conveniently park their bikes in front of this and other downtown businesses - all while reducing dependency on fossil fuels, alleviating congestion, reducing wear and tear on local roads, and promoting a healthy lifestyle!

* if "mind" is, as the Enlightened Ones concur, nothing more than a Great Mirror reflecting prakriti, then surely the question, "What's On Your Mind?" becomes sophomoric and essentially useless (like most WordSpeak).

Burn for the rest of your life: gettin' abs is easy...the Real Situation is: Attaining A Father's Day To Take To The Bardo Entry...

self photo taken m(om)ents ago just to grab your attention to the Real Intent behind the Scientific Artistry of Wholistic Fitness; please, read further...

so...all you New Daddy's that are 45+...let's say you go into the bathroom to shower.
i know you do.
eventually.
you take a picture of your Manipura Chakra area; the gut.
what is The Situation which stares back at you?
is there Symmetry?
is there leanness?
is there functionality?
is there an expression of Upliftment in your gut (and butt!)?
or Down-rift-ment?
i mean, really...
truly...
where are You in relation to your Abdominal Situation?
don't default to the "I'm too old," baggage...screw that.
if you studied and STUCK WITH WF?
you'd know that gettin' Abs is the easy part.
far, far, far beyond that is the spiritual fallout which is called dealing with the Inner Jeweled City Which Burns In Your Gut...
isn't time to really just DO THE WORK OF WHOLENESS before you die?

a Proven Path
arises
shining before you
since 1982

like the air that ilg breathes here beneath the Sacred Peak of Dibé Nitsaa, beside the Sacred River Animas,

part of my Dreamspeak which feeble ilg attempts to manifest is the sharing of whole-s(om)e sweat and stillness - the yin and the yang - of living WF right here, in her birthplace; Durango.

today, ilg lived a Father's Day for all Fathers Everywhere...

• early morning Practice...hum sah!
• without eating physical food, yet Pranically Satiated from my EMR, the Deities bless ilg to take 3rd in the HillClimb prime and 1st in the Finishing Sprint during the 2-hour Club Ride*
• transition quickly and go swimming at Trimble Hot Springs with my girls into a Ute Blessing and Sacred Dance...see photo's below.

dat's a Dad's Day...

i love this shot taken, like the ones below, at this evenings Ute Blessing and Dance. i grew up with the daughter of a Mountain Ute Tribal Elder. this pic reMinds ilg of her...and of the Sacred Simplicity inherent to honoring Father Sky and Mother Earth as our parents...

timeless...a 6 year-old Ute girl dancer honoring tonight's solstice in the "Sun Dance"

a flash of color expressing the endless bounty of chi inherent to the small, fierce Mountain Utes; the Native American's of the Durango, Colorado area. Their world once extended north to Wyoming, west to Arizona, south to New Mexico, and east to Nebraska. Now? ilg doesn't even have the 'guts' to tell you. let's just say it's very, very local around Durango.

Dewachen and Ananda join in the Friendship Dance along with the Utes...i absolutely adore Dewa's auspicious hand mudra in this blurry yet chiful shot...

Dewa and Amma-ji roll in the grass after the Native dancing...

* so, we're regrouped on the Club Ride at the top of Hermosa Hill; a 2-mile local climbing sufferfest upon bludgeoned pavement which leads toward the trailhead of the now famous Hermosa Creek Trail. anyway, it's the first time i'm on this ride and one of the bro's comes up to me and says,
"Nice climb..."
"Oh, thanks..." i reply resisting the egoic impulse to tell him that i rode the Passes back and forth on Saturday and did Track Intervals yesterday and that my legs felt as dead as tree stumps on the climb.
"Yeah, I couldn't quite follow your wheel...but just wait till you start getting grey hair...it's a lot harder to climb when you get older."

smiling politely, ilg takes the Noble Silence...eventually i find out that he is 7 years younger than ilg.

WF baby; the most important peleton you could EVER hook up with!
especially the older you get.

there is chronologic age.
then there is physiologic age.
then....there is WF age(lessness)!
