"It's like all my doubts have been cleared in one go."

some hours go by in what feels like 10 or 15 minutes.
other ones, linger.
what's a yogi to do save for cultivating Santosha* from each?

some clouds race over the Sacred Peak as if sprinting each other for the
arid dry skies over Hopi land...rushing to their death.
other ones, linger. whirls of white grease in the blue, blue sky.
ilg likes to savor both and smile.

the birds too, have their rhythms.
some, like Brother Hawk, try to pry the sky apart with long, strong wingbeats.
other ones, like Hummingbird, dance upon waves of air with incredible finesse and play.

tis a Great Blessing to notice and feel the tempo of nature
within one's feathers
and teach it to those
whose hurried, troubled hearts
know not that all the comings and goings
leave us nowhere
but where we breathe.

and
then,
ilg gets this {below, fan mail} in my Inbox...
how Blessed is it
to know
you've helped someone
in a far away land
yet still a Tribal Sibling?

May your own Practice contain
Santosha, Natural Rhythm, and the Grace of Lila...the Divine Dance...

head bowed,
heart open,
hands folded at heart,

your loving coach

* Santosha; 'contentment' one of the ten yogic lifestyle principles.

Dear and Respected Coach Ilg,

My name is Abhinav Gupta. I live near Delhi, India.
I found your book "Total Body Transformation" in a book-shop close to
work. It's like all my doubts have been cleared in one go.

Being an Indian fitness enthusiast , i have always believed strongly in
the powers of yoga. But as you have rightly pointed out , i was also
looking to develop real functional strength. But i couldn't figure out
how to fit all the stuff in the same week.
Also perhaps , i was used to overdoing Yoga (a easy trap to fall in if
one follows the Iyengar style)

Your step-by-step highly structured routines have really excited me.
I really am looking forward to starting the Green Tara practise this
week.

This mail is a thank-you note for the detailed efforts you have put in
your book. I am really thankful.

Also, i am sure you know , you being well versed with indian culture by
now,
that in India a guru is treated with the highest regard , on par with
parents.
So , i seek your blessing in my efforts to become a WF Warrior.

Sincerely,
Abhinav

...oh those egoic grooves...

What should we “do” with the mind in meditation? Nothing at all.
Just leave it, simply, as it is.
One Master described meditation as “mind, suspended in space, nowhere.”

- Sogyal Rinpoche

For Ananda's birthday yesterday, we both received a Healing from the
Gaden Shartse Tibetan Monks.

For me, it was welcome and needed step step back in time...surrounded by the familiarly calm swish-swooshing of ochre colored robes up and down narrow halls. and, oh!!! there it is again; that most beautiful, unsurpassed Wisdom Chuckle from these stunningly powerful Beings as they went about their Work with as much float and rhythmic intensity as an Ashtanga Yoga vinyasa. Our holistic Chi-ropractor, David Milgram, who hosts these Monks here in his own office, was also dancing from treatment room to treatment room, as he continued his own great healing ways. this place became a palace of Pranic Waves and the smell and auric feel of the Monks...oh! Is there truly anything more beautiful than being around those Beings who commit their lives to doing good for all Beings In All Realms? when you and i are sleeping? these beautiful powerful Monks are chanting, meditating, and healing others through various ways and Realms.

These exiled Tibetan monks visit Flagstaff regularly, as an ineffable and strong current of all things Tibetan streams, invisible to the eyes of the NonPractitioner, throughout my beloved American Southwest. The high, dry mesas. The stunningly steep snow mountains which pierce oceanic blue skies. This terrain reminiscent to all Tibetans of their now tortured land and people in their "Land of the Snows."

The Venerable Geshe Kalsang Gyatso was the Head Lama who did our Healing. Common to my Tradition, i will not speak on what transpired in our actual Healing. i will report unto thee, however, of the astral intensities from the Lama whose emanations...

Understanding The Rhythm Of Fitness; a sweat animated sequence

"Life is not about how fast you can run, or how high you can climb. Although, cultivating such skills are required to know the Buddha of Intensity. Life is really about how well you can bounce. The highly skilled yogin possess strength, endurance, suppleness, and the mental control in order to maintain the rhythm of mind and body..."

"...The wise Warrior knows that he is not a king. Not even close. Yet, in polishing his fearless, ropeless stance upon Earth, he knows also that even Kings bow before the Warrior. It is necessary to maintain the Warrior Wisdom for only the most highly skilled Warrior - one who does not specialize yet rather attempts to Master the unMasterable Limitless Capacity of the Human Body,Mind, and Spirit - develops a cadence of thought and action that brings melody to all humanity."

My Face...

"I urge you not to throw away time, for it's as swift as an arrow, fast as a stream. Distraction is entirely due to a lack of concentration; stupidity and blindness are caused by a lack of true knowledge."

Scout

"In WF, every day is Earth Day."
- coach ilg

I heard him the day before yesterday while working in the Temple Office.
then again yesterday up at about 8,500' in Dry Lake Hills on Sunset Trail on Gunther.
haven't seen him yet. just heard him.
and it was the sound promised warmth, long days, and dancing aspen leaves riding the waves of mountain wind...

perhaps i am preaching to the already-converted, those of us whose ears never tire of hearing the pontifications of a high country spring. clicking the gears jauntily on my mountain bike and sliding through freeze/thaw mud, i realize again how very deeply i care for the mountain life. as my wheels carry me in carrousel singletrack turns through ponderosa lined creeks, i am giddy with inner wealth. in DL after DL i attempt to share my desire for the Consciously Live and Adored Fitness Life and i know wherefrom my intense desire to share comes from; here. these trails. this sky. those swirling fingers of clouds wrapped like white linens about the - my - Sacred Peak.

i mention the coming of Humingbirds to my teammate; Rob, an ornithologist at NAU...

DON'T MISS THIS SPECIAL DL...it's one of those 'special ones' from coach that just hit the heart of sincerity so potently...it reminds us of what Fitness truly means; appreciation, awareness, and simplicity...

WF Lifestyle Principle; Lateral Dominancy

Thank you Oh Noble Shishya Hakado Ru!

May it help.

When we allow ourselves the unquestioned addiction to lateral dominancy,
we create a neural, chemical, and spiritual dysfunction of massive proportion.

Question everything; especially in which hand your computer mouse is always in
and your spine while reading this. Dysfunction = Dis-ease.

om so ti,

coach ilg
