Final Training Day for Mt. Taylor with Venerable Master WF Student Fit Kit!

Most Treasured WF Sangha,
it would take only my most Devoted long-term students to remember this
ever-grinning elder Devotee of WF, "Fit Kit" Johaneson
from Vernon, British Columbia
shown above with Dewa yesterday. (Fit Kit brought Dewa that adorable hat)

When i first met Fit Kit, i was living in Santa Fe...the year was 1993.
as an Ironman Triathlete who wanted to take study with me,
i put him through an initiation test;
"Riblet Intervals" up a black diamond ski slope on snowshoes.
he made it. barely.

after i accepted him as a student Fit Kit replied after his first WF Private Intensive all those years ago,
"You know, i first came to WF as training for Ironman competitions.
Now, i compete in Ironman to train for WF!"

Just like our first meeting many moons ago,
Fit Kit and i are about to immerse ourselves into the dawn twilight and skin up the Sacred Peak. me and my 65 year-young Ironman Triathlete/WF Devotee.
Teacher/Student.
Tribal Brothers.
going uphill...toward the Purest of Summits...together...

Fit Kit is staying here and we're doing Mt. Taylor this weekend!

coming up next in DL?
i'll introduce you to my new Mixed Pairs partner for Mt. Taylor this weekend as we
attempt to recapture the Championship as A(nother) Fair Pair of Mountain Yogis
as our Mixed Pair name; a tribute to me and Lisa Goldsmith's shattering of and still standing Course Record when we competed as; A Fair Pair of Mountain Yogis.

Fit Kit?
you don't think he drove his van here from BC
loaded with bikes, skis, snowshoes, and running gear
not to solo it, do you?

i first planted the Seed for Fit Kit to do Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon
when i first met him.
he's kept that dream alive and his Training has thus been Blessed...
he is stronger than ever and come Saturday,
he is going to soar with the Tsidool spirits...

how about you?

why are you waiting to take Pilgrimage to the Sacred Peak of the Tewa, of the Diné...
of South...

until then,
may all your Sweat be Sacred,

Student KK - On Relationship Yoga

Noble Coach,

Thank you for reminding me of the Mula Bandha awareness during daily life.

While the process of Atonement is simple, I allow myself to be caught up in the innumerable details of the ephemeral, forgetting my yoga at times.

Learning to undo the incredible repression of my masculine core started in early childhood and was perpetuated as a lifelong pattern, my current relationships are a very consuming classroom.

Metaphysical Teachings #2 From Pagosa Duathlon - Race Report #2; Competition As A Wholistically Relevant Inner Space

"Attack
thy weaknesses,
Destroy
avidya,
Pursue the Great Spirit
of Wholeness."

- coach ilg

Such is the sweat-based sutra of the WF Yogi, for we would rather finish in last place doing a sport in which we suck than to go on winning, winning, winning in something that the Go(o)d Lord gifted to us naturally. To excel in a sport is not mastery of self-cultivation. A lot of people get that mixed up. Winning - if not done from a spiritually matured and wholistically relevant inner space - only serves to fortify that aspect of self which is not the True Self. I am speaking here of what yogis know as 'ahamkara' or the egoic construct. In my second book, The Winter Athlete, i coached you that, "Racing is not about, it's about ourselves."

Well, that is why New Daddy ilg chose again to find myself toeing yet another Start Line. This particular line - a scribble of chalk across a forlorn forest road tucked within the massive remoteness of the Weminuche Wilderness of southwestern Colorado, was a...

You have no idea of what else you are missing from not being a DL Subscription Warrior! C'mon and subscribe for just pennies per month! We're your TRIBE! We're WAITING FOR YOU!

"Because truly, us Wholistic Fitness yogis who choose to toe the Start Lines are completely at a dis-advantage to the sport-specific specialists who suck upon their strengths while ignoring over and over again their weaknesses. So, whenever i - or one of you - contest the Specialists for the sake of Wholeness and actually beat them at their own game?!"

That, to ilg, is hilarious, beautiful, and grossly mis-understood and under-appreciated.

So, tune in tomorrow and run and ride with your ol' coach ilg...

May may my time and energy and Love spent here,
be of Benefit in some perhaps tiny Way,
to your own majestic Practice toward Wholeness...

head bowed,
spine straight,
feet bare...

ilg

photo 1; above photo; the ilg body after a run through of the The Kinlani Flow DVD. after crashing on our mountain bikes or undertaking the curriculum of other injuries, the mountain yogi is in no condition to do a full throttle asana practice. what is needed instead is a pranic healing routine that does not rely upon a half-hour of Sun Salutations just to get 'warmed up.' my most recent DVD, The Kinlani Flow is an exceptional routine for injured and/or busy fitness warriors, requiring only 10 minutes yet affording a deeply healing and empowering inner journey.

NEWSFLASH - Coach Bludgeons To Victory; Flagstaff 10k Classic Nordic Race

Flagstaff Nordic Center - Sunday, February 1, 2009

click on pics to enlarge

After 3 consecutive weekends of racing in three different winter sports, covering race distances from 10k to 42k, and canvassing 700 miles of travel, Coach cashed in on his final event before the Mt. Taylor Winter Quadrathlon by repeating as Champion in the Flagstaff 10k Nordic Ski Race held today. "It must be a day for the Arizona underdogs! What next? Wait, don't tell me," said Ilg, "The Cards win the SuperBowl?" the 46 year-young Ilg smiled, shortly after collapsing on the Finish Line from his effort. Coach's effort put him 3.5 minutes in the Series lead for the Arizona Nordic State Ski Championship, the final race, a 10k Skate Race, will be held February 22nd.

"I dedicate my training for and effort of today's top step of the podium to New "old daddy's" Everywhere...and to my Beloved Partner Ananda, who might just be the most amazingly conscious new mother during the Kali Yuga...my daughter sure knew which Human Being to pick as her m(om)!...this one is for New Daddies and New M(om)mies everywhere; May we choose to accept our chi-ldren for the Gurus that they are...and use our Training wisely to keep up with their Teachings!"
- Coach Ilg, m(om)ents after tearing the lungs and legs off the field by nearly 4 minutes at the Flagstaff 10k Nordic Ski Race, event number one of two to defend Coach's hold on the Arizona State Nordic Championship title. Ilg won the race in wire-to-wire fashion, repeating his Overall Victory at the same race last year. photo of Coach and 16 month-old Dewachen by Ananda.

"I pretty much double-poled the entire course in 42 minutes of a flagellant disorder ," Ilg said, "I have a lot of domestication-of-selfish-ilg issues in my tissues right now. i needed an old fashioned self-bludgeoning. Nordic Classic is an endurance sport where i can finally unleash my upper body aggression. Today was a perfect purge."

Coach will return to his DL Service as soon as his lats de-pump allowing his hands to fit onto the keyboard.
